ginger

Ginger is the rhizome of a plant native to tropical southern Asia, where it has been domesticated and used for consumption since ancient times.

Why is it good for my body? Ginger contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols that are believed to explain why so many people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experience reductions in their pain levels and improvements in their mobility when they consume ginger regularly.
Where does it come from? Though it is most thought to be first found in Asian cuisines, it appeared in the Mediterranean by 5th century BCE.
How do I store and handle it? Fresh ginger should be stored in the refrigerator and will keep for about a week.
What are ways to eat it? Ginger is one of the most versatile spices, and can be found in many dishes and beverages, especially around the holidays. We love fresh ginger in Doctor Yum's Green Dragon Smoothie, plus it goes great with our stir-fry and curry makers!
