Where does it come from?
Eggplants may have originated in India and were introduced around the world through trade routes. When first introduced in Europe, they were only grown ornamentally because, as members of the night shade family, eggplants were believed to be poisonous!
What season is it fresh?
Eggplants are sensitive to cold so they are ready to harvest mid to late summer and do not live past the first frost.
How do I store and handle it?
Eggplants can be stored unrefrigerated in cool room temperature or in the produce drawer in the refrigerator for a week.
What are ways to eat it?
